Level 16 - Renewed

Weekly Report 16 1/7/19 - 1/13/19

At the time of writing this, the original work is completed. The pace of work was heightened over the past few weeks, partly out of a need to complete the final tasks on my mental list and partly out of a revived sense of motivation towards game development in general. It was one thing to fuel the fire by consuming lots of game development related media in my free time, but it was another thing to turn that energy into something real through the outlet of the original work. In the future I hope to transfer the energy even further into projects of grander scale, which require more thought and foresight.

Since the public research showcase will be happening soon, diligent steps have been taken to ensure its success. Throughout the process of composing the final few documents for my portfolio, crafting the visuals on the display board, and printing the necessary papers to fill my physical binder, it was strange to have rarely thought that the whole ordeal was unnecessary or taxing. Usually, similar assignments in school feel much more like a chore, but this time, it was all masked by a general excitement to unveil the efforts of the past few months and declare, “I did something!”.

This is the general sense of the industry as a whole, too. It is not always fun to be right in the middle of the process, where tasks drag on, doubts invade, and foresight is somewhat lost. However, by the end, there is something of a renewal in the cycle - the excitement from the first few days of the endeavor returns to allow the project to flow into completion. This is the beautiful thing about “I did something!”, and if perseverance allows me to continue in this way until May, there will be another chance to experience it. The same diligence will be required then as now, and discipline is what should guide the remaining months to a close. Having experienced the cycle once, it should happen again.

LEVEL CLEAR.
