7. Metaprogramming

“Making games may be fun, but it certainly ain’t easy” is Robert Nystrom’s testament to the nature of the job of a game developer. Games at their fullest scale encompass an enormous amount of code and behavior, and anything that is sloppily arranged or even somewhat inconvenient is a road by which a game project can crash. Down the road, my skills will expand to the point where project scale begins to significantly stunt progress, and it will be times like those that demand a solid understanding of optimal programming patterns.
