Weekly Report 13 11/26/18 - 12/2/18
On the first of December, the first of three goals set for this year passed its deadline, unachieved. What was set to be five interviews completed by this date turned out to be only three. While this would normally provide a sense of failure, today it does not, partly because it was known from the start that that goal would significantly push my limits, and partly because three is still a good number for me - it remains three more than the majority of students at the school have ever done.
The second of three goals will not end until January, but it has already been broken as well. Last week, there were supposed to be four separate days that week spent working on the original work to some extent, but by the end there were only three. However, since this particular goal is ongoing, it would still be worth it to continue attempting to maintain the goal in future weeks. So that is something that was done this week.
If the relatively easy week of November 19th saw the failure of the SMART goal, though, it is difficult to evaluate why this week was better, even though it was a much more hectic week. Maybe dropping the ball caused a spike in motivation that helped me uphold my promises while pushing through the tough times. Or maybe last week was deceptively easy and in reality carried a lot more weight than I would be comfortable admitting. Either way, the hope would be that the encouragement maintains through this coming week so that the goal will continue to be maintained.
There will also be more attempts to gain those two extra interviews which have been delayed. At this moment there are two specific contacts in mind which could possibly follow through, so the necessary action will need to be taken in email. The first three times will give me the courage to push through. Turns out that first SMART goal, although failed, was still fruitful.
