Weekly Report 12 11/5/18 - 11/11/18
The day was November 9th, 2018. Professional dress was being worn for more than one occasion at the same time - first, the presentation, which went way better than expected, and then the interview, which went on way longer than expected. Combine this with a few subsequent non-ISM responsibilities, and by the end of the day there was no energy left.
I believe that I am still half-sick from it.
In any case, there is thankfulness to be had that things went smoothly. The dedicated preparation spent on rehearsing the presentation allowed me to deliver my content without notecards, although they will likely be necessary for longer presentations. Two revised sets of questions for both interviews conducted this week allowed for a somewhat smoother experience that drew out enriching insights in different ways. The interviews were very anxiety-filled but also very powerful moments.
The original work is also starting to come together. There is a list of genres to attempt in my head - three which are considered “required” and a fourth which will be done if time permits - and development of the basic architecture of the first has begun. This genre is the top-down shooter, which is relatively familiar to me compared to other genres on the list. Starting with this genre will allow for an easier initial experience before tackling a more difficult task, like the role-playing game. Overall, work so far has been slow, but I am prepared to significantly ramp up the pace in later weeks.
In all, this next coming week will likely be a bit more relaxed, although not necessarily a cakewalk. Upcoming goals include to continue the pace of the original and to schedule one more interview for next week. Both of these involve placing some of the workload over Thanksgiving Break, but that is a commitment I am willing to take.
