Weekly Report 11 10/29/18 - 11/4/18
Many of the things which needed to be completed this week were delayed, delegated to the last minute. It should be noted, however, that while this report is being written mere hours before its deadline, it is not one of those delayed things. There was an interview today, so it felt natural to compose the report after it was conducted, even though it falls outside of the week to which this report pertains.
Two interviews were planned for the coming week. These upcoming commitments have been a main source of stress for the week, even though it is difficult to pinpoint a specific thing that is deserving of that stress. It feels like a player who has found themselves in the room before the boss fight: they save their game repeatedly, pace across the room, ensure that their items and strategy is in order, and then finally burst through the doors to take on the enemy that comes next. At this moment, I have already walked through the entrance, but this “boss fight” will span the course of the next week.
Coming up, though, the original work will also require some attention. The brainstorming process for what all will be created over the next two months has already begun, and the idea will be to begin a pace of work as indicated in my S.M.A.R.T. goal by using GitHub for Unity to track my progress. Fifteen minutes were spent over the weekend ensuring that the Unity extension actually worked, so that the focus during the logged time of development will be on the barebones gameplay and not on version control.
The final thing that will need to be completed is the research presentation, which would be the concluding endeavor of next week if not for the interview right after. The slideshow has already been mostly outlined, and now that the second interview has been completed, all the information required for the presentation is here. Some more time will be spent these coming days, then, on rehearsing the delivery of the content to ensure all goes smoothly.
And so the boss fight begins. With the right preparation and strategy, it should be a manageable fight.
